Filipino Restaurant: Rose & Grace Restaurant
Located at Sto. Tomas, Batangas, Philippines
Before I went to this restaurant, I honestly have high expectations to fill since my boyfriend was promoting this restaurant to me ever since we have known each other. He said that the Bulalo (Beef Bone) soup in this restaurant is probably the best Bulalo soup in the Philippines. Well, I am not a Bulalo fanatic and because of this exaggeration from my boyfriend. He had convinced me to try this restaurant.
We actually traveled from Lucena City to Sto. Tomas Batangas just to taste their Bulalo soup. But the good thing was, the restaurant is conveniently situated along the highway. So there is no hassle when you want to go there. The place is actually spacious enough to accommodate large number of customers. It well lighted and ventilated with air conditioner. The restaurant is properly sealed and sound proof I guess, because while inside, I can’t hear any loud noises coming from the vehicles outside.
Surprisingly, the place is like a “Turo-Turo” restaurant. And I didn’t expect that. There are lots of dishes to choose from. I think they almost have all the Filipino dishes already cooked and displayed, ready to be served. And after the long discussions on what we will eat. We have decided to order “Lechong Kawali”. I find it funny that we did not explore any unusual food at that time. Because of the wide range of choices, I think my eyes had already became satisfied on what I have seen. Or am I just tired? My appetite literally went down and just want to sit down and eat a usual food that we eat.
We also ordered our all-time favorite vegetable dish “Chopsuey”. Gosh! I really can’t believe that we have just ordered a regular dish after hours of traveling to this place.
We even did not bother ordering their “Special Bulalo” because it costs around P400 to P500 if I am not mistaken and we don’t feel like eating it. My boyfriend told me that we will just ask for a free Bulalo soup just to taste the soup. And since I am not a Bulalo fan. I just agreed to our plan.

So we started eating and fully consumed all the foods we ordered. My verdict on their soup was just average. I don’t know but my boyfriend loves the soup that much. But for me, it was just average. I might just have expected so much on the soup. And since I am a little disappointed on our trip, I just decided to buy sweets. At Rose & Grace Restaurant, they have a “Pasalubong” area. We bought Ube Cookie, Pastillas de Leche, Banana Chips, Sampaloc Candy, and Yema.
There is nothing special on these sweets since at Quezon Province, we also have this kind of sweets. It is everywhere I guess. But if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth. Then I recommend that you buy this.
My Rose & Grace experience is not that good. Maybe because of the tiring trip we had or maybe because I have expected too much on the food and the place. But if I will be given a chance to go back. Then why not. They have lots of dishes to choose from. I might like some of those.
WAIT! THERE'S MORE...
