Pinoy Trends: Pastillas Girl segment is a wrong move against Aldub?

It is undeniable that Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza’s love team, popularly known as Aldub, is currently creating a big buzz on twitter and on Philippine National Television. It obviously increased the National TV ratings of GMA-7’s noon time show Eat Bulaga for quite some time.

On the other hand, though it was not clearly stated and acknowledged on the show that “Nasaan ka Mr. Pastillas” segment featuring Angelica Yap as Pastillas Girl on It’s Showtime was created to combat Eat Bulaga’s Aldub. It is very obvious that they copied the idea of a scripted reality-like based segment featuring a love team in a noontime show to which people will be looking forward to relate and watch.

Many people online and also some of my friends are saying that it was a desperate move of It’s Showtime to do this segment. Well, I think, they should have created a more unique segment than mimicking the flavor that their rival show gives to their audience. Plus the fact that their Pastillas Girl segment does not fully promote some Filipino values and morale that opted twitter users to give the show the hashtag #BugawSerye.

As an avid noontime show viewer, I am a little dissappointed on It’s Showtime. They should have created a better segment that is more entertaining than Aldub without exploiting real people and dragging their names to the show just for the sake of entertainment. I don’t know if their gimmick is effective with regards to increasing the rating of the show. But it is a pain in my eyes to watch a courting and dating game on live television. What had just happened to my favorite noontime show?
